Tom Cox replied to Aaron Logan's discussion Where should I start??
"Congratulations on the new purchase.  Assuming that your land is reasonably productive you shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone interested in renting from you.  15 acres is a fairly small parcel but providing there is…"

Tom Cox replied to OntAG Admin's discussion How is your corn harvesting progressing? Better than expected, worse, etc? Results and yields posted here.
"Always interesting to read and hear the internet and coffee shop yield reports, the Ontario crop will likely average 150 or a little less yet its all 200 plus on here....we sure are not seeing those kinds of yields in the Hamilton area, we must…"

Tom Cox replied to Roadrunner's discussion Thank goodness for the rainfall...but will the corn and soys catch up and make a crop?
"Rain has been very spotty in our area (between Brantford and Hamilton) with some areas still very dry.  There are some decent looking crops and then a few miles away some dreadful looking ones. Some of the areas on lighter soil that…"

Tom Cox replied to Joe Dales's discussion Ontario Wheat Yields and Reports. Post your yields and thoughts, pictures and videos on the harvest here.
"A couple days into wheat harvest here between Brantford and Hamilton. Yields and moistures quite variable.  We have had no measureable precip in a month so actually expected poorer yields. Some of the high management fields are seeing best…"

Tom Cox replied to Mackenna Roth's discussion Rain is a good thing!
"How many rain barrels do you suppose it might take to irrigate a 1000 acres or so of corn this July ? Tried to spread urea on wheat today and ended up dragging it back out of a well tiled field."

Tom Cox replied to Kevin Stewart's discussion Are you a member of a producer peer group? Who do you work well with?
"For ten years or better I've belonged to an email group of about a dozen producers from across North America. We all met one another on agriculture.com a US discussion group similar to this one. The range of discussions is pretty broad from…"

Tom Cox replied to Mike McFarlane's discussion Ontario Wheat Yields
"We are nearing the end here in Troy (between Brantford and Hamilton). Yields have been highly variable from some up in the 100 bu range to those in the 60's. The best yields seem to come from nearer the lake where they was some lake effect and…"

Tom Cox replied to Kevin Stewart's discussion AgVisionTV Online: Kevin Stewart Talks to Dr Patrick Moore, Founder of GreenPeace about Farming and Activism.
"Kevin, I had the opportunity several years ago to speak at a FCC sponsored event that you hosted and featured Dr Moore. I found his presentation to be one of the most thoughtful and well done of any I have ever heard. I at times get discouraged at…"
