Dale Ketcheson replied to OntAG Admin's discussion How is your corn harvesting progressing? Better than expected, worse, etc? Results and yields posted here.
"Got some off last week, 150 bushel at 19-23%. About 20% above average for yield."

Dale Ketcheson replied to OntAG Admin's discussion Soybean harvest in Ontario, some have started, have you? When will your fields be ready? Check out the results ...
"55ish so far, 11% moisture. May start corn tomorrow as well, got some down to 21%"

Dale Ketcheson replied to Roadrunner's discussion Thank goodness for the rainfall...but will the corn and soys catch up and make a crop?
"We're looking average to slightly better here (Belleville). We've had over 5" of rain now spread over 3-4 good rains in the last 18 days. Got a couple of fields now with water laying. Some places didn't have anything until…"

Dale Ketcheson replied to OntAG Admin's discussion Canadians Have Positive Perceptions of Farming. Do you agree? Why?
"Actually I've found that new immigrants have much more interest in agriculture than 2nd or more generation. A lot of them have been hungry at some time in their home country, and/or a lot of them had a closer connection to the farm at home than…"

Dale Ketcheson replied to John Schwartzentruber's discussion Farm Org. Funding.
"Maybe... if all acres were created equal and all farms were dependent on acreage. They aren't. Should an acre under glass in a greenhouse be counted the same as $800 rough pasture? Should 20,000 broilers on a 5 acre lot be counted the same as a…"

Dale Ketcheson replied to Roadrunner's discussion Anyone started grain corn? How is the moisture, yields and test weights?
"Hoping to finish our last 80 acres of beans in the next 2-3 days. Corn yesterday was down around 22%, mostly grade 2, still have a couple of fields around 35% but we need some HM anyway. Still seems to be running well above average for yield."

Dale Ketcheson replied to Roadrunner's discussion Anyone started grain corn? How is the moisture, yields and test weights?
"North of Belleville, started today. Some conventional non-BT corn that may not stand up if we get the snow we're supposed to get this weekend so we're going with it. May just keep on going if the forecast doesn't look much better when…"
