Speaker Series Reflects Farm Future!

London, Ontario, March 4, 2013: Thousands of farmers flock every year to the London Farm Show to see the latest in farming equipment and what’s new and exciting in agricultural technology. In 2013, participants reflect on the past as the event celebrates 75 years and look forward to showcasing what’s current and relevant in agricultural information, products and services, for farmers in our region and beyond. To help educate and inspire, the London Farm Show has scheduled a strong speaker series with informative talks covering a variety of topics: new aerial imagery technology, mobile software, farm safety and market trends.

This year's show expanded to more than 250,000 square feet of show space as we grew the show into the state-of-the-art Agriplex facility. There were hundreds of products/services, expert guest speakers in the Auditorium, and hands-on equipment demonstrations in the PRIDE Seeds Arena.

Leif Carlson Named Vice President, Markets and Trade

Grain sector warns of information gaps in AAFC research reductions, calls for immediate program impact disclosure

Grain Growers of Canada is calling on the federal government to provide clarity on the impacts of recent staffing reductions and announced closures or consolidations of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research facilities, stating that downstream consequences cannot be assessed without clear, program-level information. “Transparency is essential when decisions affect the foundation of Canada’s agricultural research system,” said Scott Hepworth, chair of Grain Growers of Canada and Saskatchewan grain farmer. “Without clear disclosure of what research capacity is being reduced or eliminated, the sector cannot understand the long-term risks to production and competitiveness,” he added. “It must be clear what capacity is being lost, where, and with what consequences.” Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has cited personnel confidentiality in limiting details on the announced changes.
