Working Together to Help the Agri-Food Sector Grow

Ernie Hardeman, Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, met with David Marit, Saskatchewan's Minister of Agriculture, to discuss common priorities to support the growth of their respective agri-food sectors. This meeting is one of several initiatives happening under the Memorandum of Understanding for Ontario-Saskatchewan Free Trade that is reducing regulatory burden and creating more opportunities for businesses.

The leaders of Canada‘s AgGrowth Coalition are in Quebec City awaiting the Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) Agriculture Ministers‘ response to farmers‘ call for immediate action on national Business Risk Management (BRM) programs. The AgGrowth Coalition and its members have formally asked the FPT Ministers to implement the following action items during their meeting this week:

B.W. Kennedy Memorial Award Presented to Lee Whittington

Lee Whittington, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was awarded the B.W. Kennedy Memorial Award at the annual general meeting for the Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement (CCSI), held in Ottawa, Ontario on July 4, 2019. CCSI presents this award to recognize individuals who, through their involvement in scientific research, program development or program implementation, have made a significant contribution to the Canadian Swine Improvement Program and swine industry.
