Facilitators: Andy van Niekerk-, Deb Campbell, and Blair Scott.

Ever wanted to pick the brains of 3 agronomists about production issues for spring 2015?  Each will present the perceived hot topics/opportunities/challenges for 2015 including: Soybean Cyst Nematodes; Managing problem weeds in IP soys; Planning for soys on soys in the rotation; White mould management; Strategies for getting wheat planted on time; Managing workload and streamlining field operations to make better use of tight windows with changing climate; Spring Grains making a comeback; Canola-can it work?; and much more.  A detailed Q and A session will follow.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
