Event Description

Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week (#GBFW17), in its 51st year, will run from Wednesday, January 4th to Tuesday, January 10th, starting with Beef Day, and ending on Crops Day.  It is a 7 day Agricultural Conference packed with a most impressive and informative line-up of speakers!   The coordinators for this event, Grey County Ag Services, in conjunction with agricultural commodity leaders from Grey and Bruce Counties, have attempted to feature at least one high profile speaker for each day, targeting the issues and challenges facing the farming community today. 

As always, exciting Panels have been developed for 2017.  These panels include:

  • On Goat Day, we have asked three producers (2 goat milk producers and 1 meat producer) to give us a Virtual Farm Tour.  We will visit their farms without leaving our seats.

  • Goat Day will continue to share information for both the milk and meat producer.  Dr. Kent Charlton, Owner, Durham Veterinary Clinic will deliver an abundance of practical tips when he imparts Healthy Kids Need and Make Healthy Herds.

Canola industry welcomes significant progress on Chinese tariffs

The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) and Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA) welcome the announcement made today in Beijing to provide significant tariff relief for Canadian canola seed and meal. Prime Minister Carney forges new strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China focused on energy, agri-food, and trade

In a more divided and uncertain world, Canada is building a stronger, more independent, and more resilient economy. To that end, Canada's new government is working with urgency and determination to diversify our trade partnerships and catalyse massive new levels of investment. As the world's second-largest economy, China presents enormous opportunities for Canada in this mission. To forge a new Canada-China partnership, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, visited Beijing, the People's Republic of China, this week. This marked the first visit to China by a Canadian Prime Minister since 2017.
