Event Description

The Winter Meeting + Social and Tradeshow will be held at the Bognor Community Centre on Thursday December 18 th, 2025. Doors will open at 5:00 pm for welcome and socializing with the supper beginning at 5:30 pm.
This year marks the first time the winter meeting will be held in the evening, and it will be a licensed event. Attendees are encouraged to bring significant others. Agribusinesses will be set up throughout the venue, offering opportunities to network and build valuable connections.

The evening will feature a keynote presentation from The Honourable Robert Black, P.Ag. (Hon.), Senator (ON) — a lifelong advocate for Canadian agriculture and rural leadership. His career spans influential roles with OMAFRA, 4-H Ontario, the Ontario Soybean Growers, the Centre for Rural Leadership, and the Rural Ontario Institute (ROI). Senator Black credits formative programs such as 4-H, Junior Farmers, and the Advanced Agricultural Leadership
Program (AALP) for shaping the skills that ultimately led him to the Senate. His presentation, “Critical Ground: Why Soil is Essential to Canada’s Economic, Environmental, Human and
Social Health,” will explore key findings and recommendations from a national soil study — work
that also informed the proposed Bill S-230, calling for a national soil health strategy focused on protection, conservation, and enhancement. Senator Black will also discuss current challenges

in agriculture, including land use, climate pressures, labour shortages, AI, and international
trade.

Registration is $30 to reserve a plate, and the Grey SCIA Membership fee is $50.

Pre-registration required by December 9, 2025
in order to reserve your gourmet dinner
