Event Description

Country Heritage Park volunteers and guests present their annual Parade of Lights event on Saturday and Sunday 14th & 15th of November. Join a parade of vintage farm tractors and machinery decorated with festive lights. Parade visitors have the opportunity be shuttled around the park on beautifully lit wagons and are able to admire the lights show on several of the parks heritage buildings. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand along with some of their helpers along refreshments in the Gambrel Barn. No charge admission – Donations to the Parks Event fund would be sincerely appreciated.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
