Event Description

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OFA is conducting this year’s regional meetings in a virtual format. This format is to ensure we protect the health and safety of our staff, directors and members.

OFA regional meetings offer the opportunity to engage in discussions about the issues and priorities impacting the agriculture and food industry, network with local federation directors and fellow members, and support your local agricultural community.

The virtual experience of attending regional meetings will prepare delegates for OFA’s 2020 Annual General Meeting in November that will also be hosted on a virtual platform. Transitioning to a virtual format ensures we protect the health and safety of our staff, directors and members.

The event also includes elections for delegates and alternates to OFA’s Annual General Meeting and Policy Advisory Council (PAC) members. These positions will be representing their respective counties at OFA’s virtual annual meeting on November 23, 2020. These opportunities allow members to get involved in OFA’s work at a provincial level, bringing concerns, suggestions and leadership to provincial discussions.

Please contact your local Member Service Representative (MSR) for more information, including meeting details and election nominations. Find your local Member Service Representative (MSR) at ofa.on.ca/msr.

U.S. livestock groups oppose proposed beef import plan

Four major U.S. agricultural and livestock organizations are urging President Donald Trump to reconsider a proposed plan that would allow additional beef imports over a 90-day period. The American Farm Bureau Federation, Livestock Marketing Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and United States Cattlemen’s Association said in a letter released August 25, 2026, that they are concerned the proposal could have negative implications for U.S. cattle producers and the broader livestock sector. The groups said they support efforts to keep food affordable for consumers but are calling on the administration to work with industry stakeholders on policies that balance affordability with long-term producer viability and domestic food production. In the letter, the organizations argued that increased imports could put pressure on cattle markets and influence producer decisions related to herd expansion and investment.
