Event Description

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention is celebrating 10 years! To mark the occassion, the convention is moving to a new home, The Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This new, state-of-the-art facility is the perfect setting to deliver a great lineup of horticultal experts and topical sessions as well as an expanded tradeshow with double the space!

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Cool Bean: Consider planting earlier

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
