Poultry Industry Council's annual Poultry Health Day will take place on Wednesday, June 20th 2018 at the Arden Park Hotel in Stratford. This event's program highlights current disease trends and other aspects of commercial poultry health. Featured speakers include local vets, industry reps and university academia.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Cool Bean: Consider planting earlier

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
