Event Description

Fairgoers can expect traditional and newer attractions. This is Riceville's fair 154th birthday. Friday night features Red neck Rodeo, featuring red neck games, live music, fireworks show. Saturday there will be English and Western horse shows. Youth beef show, exhibit hall, firefighter challenge, children's area, pasta supper, street-legal truck pull, live music. Sunday brunch, light and heavy horse shows, antique and farm stock tractor pull, Towing Demo, recreational horseshoe tournament., live music.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
