Your choice of 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Directions: 2:00 or 6:30 - meet at the Ridgetown Campus tomato breeding plots at 21520 Victoria Road (corner of Victoria Road/Hwy 21 and McLarty Line, one road north of Hwy 401) Look for the signs. The tour will continue on campus in Ridgetown. Refreshments will be served.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Cool Bean: Consider planting earlier

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
