'Farmers Matter' Event - Stratford Rotary Complex - November 26, 2010 - 1 pm

Perth County Pork Producers and Beef Producers are partnering to deliver this Town Hall Event for all Ontario Farmers.  The purpose of this event is to pull together those who have a stake in building a sustainable pork and beef agricultural sector in Ontario.

Global leaders gather to take action on sustainable livestock production

Livestock are seen as both a source of greenhouse gas emissions and a solution to climate change. To help bring balance, dialogue and understanding to an often-contentious issue, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations last fall hosted the first-ever Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation. 

Feeding the Future

The agri-food industry is the most important in the world – we all need to eat. Research and innovation have enabled tremendous change in the livestock sector, and we can expect that change to increase in rate.

Cargill Dunlop Employees on Strike

Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) and the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association (OCFA) are aware of the strike action that began today as of 12:01 a.m. following the rejection of the negotiated settlement by members of UFCW Local 175 working at the Cargill Dunlop facility in Guelph. The Cargill Dunlop facility employs 950 people and processes 1,500 head of cattle per day.
