Farming under attack: What do you think of the A&W Better Burger TV ad and Chipotle "Scarecrow" Video? Concerns?

If you have been watching TV lately you will be aware of the A&W Restaurant TV campaign that talks about their "Better Beef" burgers...No hormones or steroids.

 

In the USA, Chipotle Restaurants have been promoting a video and online game that negatively portrays modern food and agriculture production practices.

I will post the videos here in the case you have not had the chance to watch them.

It appears they are buying a lot of beef from outside of Canada.

 

Motherhood statements that warm the heart and stomach.  Who can argue with their intent?

I just wonder if they will be able to deliver on their commitment.

The cattle disaster will have a multi-year ripple effect.  I can imagine this would put pressure on cattle supply.

USDA announces $2B to strengthen specialty crops sector

U.S. agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the creation of new programs that will help farmers who grow fruits, vegetables, and nuts overcome market barriers for their products, and help producers access necessary pre-market storage for their crops following severe weather events, including recent hurricanes. Specifically, the new Marketing Assistance for Specialty Crops initiative will provide $2 billion to assist specialty crop growers in maintaining a strong domestic supply and expanding market opportunities for their crops.
