Welcome to John Burke as the new Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs

Premier Dalton McGuinty announced the following new deputy minister appointment, effective September 7, 2010 :

 

John Burke as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Mr. Burke is currently Deputy Minister of Community Safety in the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. He was previously Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources. He has also served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Cities of Ottawa, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Gloucester, North Bay and the Regional Municipality of Halton. He has held a number of senior management positions in municipal administration in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and in Halifax and Richmond, Nova Scotia. Mr. Burke has a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary's University, a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario and has studied labour relations at Queen's University.

Yes what can you say its good to see the number of policial posts and senior public servant position increase with the reduction of farmers in this country. It will go a long way in helping the farmer increase his production and profits to know that more restrictive laws and policies are on there way.

Crop Report for The Period July 7 to 13, 2026

Last week, warmer temperatures, increased sunshine and limited precipitation helped fields to dry, allowing crops to catch up. Producers made progress with spraying and began haying, though high humidity continues to slow drying. Producers remain optimistic while monitoring pests, disease and localized weather impacts. Isolated storms moved through the province, bringing varying amounts of moisture, with some areas also reporting hail. The highest rainfall recorded was 88 millimetres (mm) in the Prince Albert area, followed by 72 mm in the Foam Lake area. The Blaine Lake and Redberry areas received 65 mm and 62 mm of precipitation, respectively.   Despite the relatively warm weather, with some areas experiencing dry conditions due to higher temperatures and wind, topsoil moisture levels in many regions remained relatively stable. Cropland topsoil moisture is: 17 per cent surplus; 80 per cent adequate; and Three per cent short. Hayland topsoil moisture is: 14 per cent surplus; 83 p
