Premier Dalton McGuinty announced the following new deputy minister appointment, effective September 7, 2010 :

 

John Burke as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Mr. Burke is currently Deputy Minister of Community Safety in the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. He was previously Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources. He has also served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Cities of Ottawa, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Gloucester, North Bay and the Regional Municipality of Halton. He has held a number of senior management positions in municipal administration in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and in Halifax and Richmond, Nova Scotia. Mr. Burke has a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary's University, a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario and has studied labour relations at Queen's University.

Yes what can you say its good to see the number of policial posts and senior public servant position increase with the reduction of farmers in this country. It will go a long way in helping the farmer increase his production and profits to know that more restrictive laws and policies are on there way.
