Huge Backlog Pressures Slaughter Hog Values

The Director of Risk Management with HAMS Marketing Services says a massive year over year increase in the number of hogs available in the U.S. for slaughter continues to pressure North American live hog values. USDA released its quarterly hogs and pigs report last week.

Keep it Clean is reminding Canadian canola, cereal and pulse growers that careful management of preharvest glyphosate applications can help to ensure crops meet the needs of our domestic and export customers. Applying pre-harvest glyphosate too early can result in unacceptable product residues in the grain which can create market risk.

Why farmers rely on cash flow projections

Agriculture is a numbers game. Farmers need to determine a fair land rental price or if their operating line of credit will get them through tight times. While uncertainty around factors such as the weather makes it nearly impossible to know exact revenue and expense numbers, it is possible to get accurate estimates using cash flow projections.
