Have you ever considered feeding haylage to your horses, but don't know where to begin?  Join us for this informative afternoon to learn how to introduce haylage into your horse's diet!  Topics will include:

  • Hay vs. Haylage, challenges & benefits - Christine O'Reilly, OMAFRA Forage/Grazier Specialist
  • Vaccinations specific to feeding haylage - Markdale Veterinary Services
  • Differences from an equipment perspective - Maplelane Farm Service & Tubeline Manufacturing
  • Feeding haylage panel - Hear from people with experience feeding haylage.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Cool Bean: Consider planting earlier

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
