Event Description

Due to challenges created by extreme weather conditions, there has been a change in the date for the Victoria County Forage Expo.

The Victoria County location will be held on Tuesday, July 23th at Vosbrae Farms, 140 Skyline Rd. in Oakwood, ON. The Perth location at Pendora Dairy Ltd., 6447 Road 164 Monkton, ON will take place on the originally scheduled date of July 9, 2019. Additional address details can be found on our website: http://www.ontarioforagecouncil.com/programs/ontario-forage-expo

This year’s demonstrations will include equipment from the leaders in forage production equipment.  Attendees will not only have the chance to see what’s new for 2019 but will also have the unique opportunity to witness this equipment in head to head field trials! Equipment will include various mowers, conditioners, rakes, tedders, windrow inverters, mergers, harvesters, dump wagons, large round balers, large square balers, small square bale bundlers, bale wrappers and bale grapplers. This event will provide the opportunity for farmers to view the latest technology available to harvest forage quickly with minimal loss and maximum quality.  Ian McDonald and Christine O’Reilly, OMAFRA will be in the field, working with the equipment companies to provide information to farmers and answer questions.  This is important in making decisions on investments which ultimately enhance their farm operations in capacity, minimizing harvest losses, product quality and profitability.

This event is FREE TO THE FARMING COMMUNITY!  Lunch will be available on-site at a nominal fee, and no pre-registration is required.

Trade show, demonstration and sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event.  Spaces are limited and will fill quickly, so don’t hesitate.

Ontario Forage Expo is an excellent opportunity to advertise to a forage focused audience compiled of producers from counties across the province!

Farmers Want Stable Canola Demand – Domestic Biofuels Market is Key

Trade Wins & the Need for Market Diversification: Lessons from the Canola Tariff Breakthrough After months of uncertainty, we are pleased to report positive developments on the trade front. Prime Minister Carney and Premier Moe’s diplomatic visit to China in January 2026 resulted in a resolution that led to a reduction in China’s canola tariffs—read this news release for greater detail on this file. While this is welcome news, it has also highlighted the risks of relying too heavily on only a couple of export markets. In today’s global trade environment, market diversification is more important than ever. Over the past year, canola—one of our largest export crops—has faced significant market risk. The recent tariff ruling confirms that depending on foreign buyers leaves us vulnerable to unpredictable policy changes. That’s why expanding domestic demand, especially biofuel, is crucial. Unlike exports, local biofuel markets can’t be affected by foreign tariffs. Crush It: Renewable Die
