Quinte Farm and Trade Show, 9 am to 4 pm, Knights of Columbus Hall, Trenton. Trade show with 45 local exhibitors. Seminars start at 10:30 am
- Peter Moran from MPAC explaining the process and the reasons for your assessed values
- John Jantzi and Kevin Williams of Remax Stratford speaking on farmland prices
- Hot roast beef lunch for nominal charge. Couples receive a small chocolate gift
- Bill Groot-Nibbelink, OMAFRA on composting deadstock
- Dr. Sam Leadley on dairy calf management

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Cool Bean: Consider planting earlier

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
