Event Description

The March 4th symposium will take on vital issues in food safety and traceability, including the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and 2010 regulatory updates. In addition to providing detail on global standards, speakers will offer companies insider data on how to make food safety and quality programs more effective. The event will also address farm-to-fork traceability as well as tips for improving recall performance.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
