Event Description

The project is to develop an app and a website that will connect local food consumers to local farmers in an effort to support farming economies. Project organizers want to talk to farmers and find out if such a tool would help them and if yes, how it can help. The first workshop is in Elgin, and farmers who live in the area are invited to participate.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.
