Event Description

The Dairy Symposium is a "not for profit event" developed “for producers, by producers" through Milk Committees covering a 14 county area of South Western Ontario.  Last year we saw a record attendance of over 800 people (including the exhibitors).  We will continue to provide a forum for discussion of industry issues with our very popular audience response system, and the "Food from our Farms" initiative will once again feature new and novel dairy products.  For updates on the program, check out our website at www.dairysymposium.com.

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Research across the Midwest has shown that early-planted soybean have greater yield potential compared to those planted later. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency in 2023 worked with Science for Success Soybean Specialists across the country and shifted the earliest soybean-planting date in states where data was available.
