The Manitoba Farmer Wellness Program (MFWP) proudly announces it has been granted charitable status by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This milestone will help the organization expand its vision of mental wellness for Manitoba farm families and farm employees “Achieving charitable status is an exciting step forward,” says Marcel Hacault, MFWP’s chair. “It not only strengthens our accountability but also expands our ability to raise funds and better serve Manitoba’s farming community. We are excited about the new opportunities this brings and deeply grateful for the continued support of our community.” With this new status, MFWP can now issue tax receipts for eligible donations, offering sponsors a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of Manitoba farmers while benefiting from tax deductions. This also positions MFWP to access grants and funding opportunities that require a registered charity designation. The MFWP offers up to nine confidential counselling sessions per year
In today’s era of high input costs, low margins and the ever-increasing need to improve sustainability of the farm operation, validating agronomic management decisions made on-farm are ever-more important. Agronomic recommendations are usually generated by small-plot research, which can efficiently and effectively compare numerous treatments in the same location, at the same time. But what happens when those treatments are used at a field scale? Do they behave the same? Are they just as effective? Are they economical? On-farm trials can help answer these questions. On-farm research is done by the farmer, for the farmer. Well-conducted on-farm trials investigate questions and outcomes on a case-by-case basis while evaluating the overall effects of management decisions through combining data across trial locations and years. Facilitating trials to generate meaningful results is a balance between our efforts and farmer efforts. For farmers, there is time involved in conducting the trial
The On-Farm Network is growing, and so is access to trial results! Single site research reports have been organized in the database below, providing detailed information at the farm level, packaged in an easy-to-read document. How it works: Filter the reports in the database table below by clicking the desired Crop, Year, Trial Type, and/or Major Region. Within the database table, click on any column header to sort the table. To view a single site report, select the Trial ID to open the single site research report in a new tab. In the database table below, trials with significant yield differences are highlighted green in the yield difference column. On each single site report, significance is indicated by a ‘yes/no’ in the overall yield results table. A trial that does not meet the trial requirements, eg. field history, is not included in the overall average for yield difference. Important information for interpreting statistics: There are two statistical tests that are used
