Event Description

Have you aspired to preserve your locally grown vegetables and don’t know where to start? Have you done some canning, but still would like to learn some tips from the experts? Our facilitator for this course will be Chef Emerie Brine, from Bernardin. In this demonstration you will be able to watch as he prepares canning recipes such as vegetable soup, meats, and garden grown veggies. He’ll provide easy tips and suggestions during the preparation of these canning projects. As a bonus, the group will get to sample the recipes prepared. Space is limited. Register Now!!

USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for Virginia Disaster Areas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that people recovering from Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). Approximately 22,858 households in nine counties are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.
